Dana Johnson represents individuals gradually becoming part of their domestic environments. By physically painting on the bodies of her subjects in order to introduce elements of camouflage, she suggests the ways in which people identify with, or begin to disappear into, everyday spaces.

Tatiana Ortiz's photographs create an archive of urban transformation as she documents Los Angeles streets and neighborhoods that are in a state of constant change. Her photographic archive reveals various manifestations of decay, rejuvenation, and the cultural diversity of the city.

In Arielle Ramirez’s color photographs, a ghostly woman in a white dress recurs in a variety of locations. The figure’s movements and multiple selves suggest underlying psychological and existential narratives.

Clarissa Ruiz presents the human form via various acts of distortion or magnification in order to disrupt our expected understanding of the figure. Her black and white photographs draw on elements of surrealism to find beauty in the twisted, and to point to the judgment and critique often associated with examining the human body.

Varduhi Simonyan photographs objects that were brought from Armenia when her family relocated to the United States. These were functional everyday objects in Armenia that in the United States became important signifiers of cultural identity, loss, and recollection. The objects are photographed in isolation to suggest their dislocation—something that the artist, as another subject of relocation—identifies with.
