C-Note: An Exhibition and Fundraiser for Syrian Children will be a pop-up, salon style exhibition at JAUS featuring works by over 100 artists from Southern California, in an effort to raise awareness, contribute to the humanitarian effort, and raise money that will be donated to UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) specifically directed to children affected by the Syrian crisis. Every piece in the show will be available for $100. All proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to UNICEF’s efforts in Syria.

The City of Brea Art Gallery is proud to bring back our MFA Graduate show that explores the art being produced by local Masters of Fine Arts students from Southern California schools.  Extraordinary works of art from Claremont Graduate University, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, UC Irvine and UC Riverside are on view in this impressive second collaboration.  A broad range of mediums will be displayed, including: painting, installation, photography, fiber art and jewelry.  Don't miss this rare glimpse into some of the best new artwork being produced in the top five local graduate programs! The opening reception will feature live music by UCR band Gypsies and Judges, food and light refreshments, and a unique collection

A Lecture by Suzanne Hudson

Suzanne Hudson is Assistant Professor of Art History and Fine Arts at the University of Southern California and is co-founder of the Contemporary Art Think Tank and the Society of Contemporary Art Historians, an affiliate society of the College Art Association.  Hudson has published in Parkett, Flash Art, Art Journal, October; and has been a regular contributor to Artforum since 2004.  She is the author of Robert Ryman: Used Paint (MIT Press, 2009; 2011) and the co-editor of Contemporary Art: 1989–Present (Wiley-Blackwell, 2013).  Her book Painting Now is forthcoming from Thames & Hudson.
